A company that functions across the globe

The client is a recruitment firm which is one of the world’s leading professional recruitment consultancy agencies. We will not disclose the name of the client in order to safeguard confidentiality. This company specialises in selecting the best placement of candidates in permanent, contract, temporary and interim positions for clients around the world.

They cater to many industries and the group functions across the USA, UK, Continental Europe, Asia-Pacific, Africa and the Middle East.

An almost impossible task

The recruitment firm’s client MiTek had a talent acquisition need for a Senior Marketing Leader (GM, Head of Marketing, Director, CMO) ideally residing in Melbourne. The timeline set for the project was 3 days. The recruitment firm needed to find the best fit for this job role and required 50 to 60 leads of potential candidates.

The following criteria were set for their ideal candidate:

  • Experience in building marketing functions.
  • Proven experience in delivering in an end-to-end role.
  • Ability to drive change and influence within a business.
  • Experience in construction software, software, construction, engineering or manufacturing businesses.
  • candidates that have experience in building marketing functions, strategy and positioning from a B2B environment.
  • Experience with BIM (building information modelling).

Further, it was stated by the client that the ideal candidate should be able to take stakeholders on a journey and is able to adapt his/her approach to a variety of stakeholders. The candidate should be capable of applying the marketing skills they possess to a business and product they have not worked with previously. In simple terms, they require leads to Senior Marketing Professionals from the Construction Software industry across Australia.

Making the impossible, possible.

As our first step, we conducted in-depth research on the specifics of this project and we identified a list of construction software which are used in Australia. With this data, we populated a list of software companies that develop construction software in Australia.

The team was able to narrow down the candidate’s criteria as below:

  • Title — General Managers, Head of Marketing, Directors, CMOS
  • Location — Ideally in Melbourne
  • Experience — working for a software company that deals in BIM and 3D modelling in the construction and building industry

The primary channels our team decided to source candidates and generate leads were LinkedIn, CV sites and company websites.

One and a half days after the candidate sourcing campaign started, we analysed the existing results and made an observation that there were only 20 to 30 qualified candidates that match the above segmentation and criteria. To resolve this issue our team made the quick decision to make more segmentation and criteria changes to the campaign.

After raising this concern to the client and conducting research and analysis in different angles on the criteria we identified that the candidates who have experience in any B2B Technology software are also qualified for the job.

Thereafter we divided the candidates into two segments and expanded the candidate location into a few more cities as follows:

  • General Manager, Head of Marketing, Director, CMO who has worked with Construction Software residing in Melbourne, Sydney, Queensland, Brisbane, Victoria and Perth
  • General Manager, Head of Marketing, Director, CMO who has worked with B2B Technology residing in Melbourne, Sydney, Queensland, Brisbane, Victoria and Perth
